Free up memory Android device

  1. Moving apps from internal storage to the storage card can free up significant  amounts of space. Tap Android s Menu icon, then Settings and Apps or  Applications. You should see a list of installed apps; tap  Manage applications  if  you don t. Tap the app s top-right menu icon, then  Sort by size . Tap an app to see  whether it can be moved to the storage card. If it can, you ll see the  Move to storage  card  button enabled at the bottom of the screen. Tap the button to free up internal  storage space.
  2. MMS messages with photos,  music and video should be  stored on the storage card. To  ensure this is the case, start the  Messages app, tap the menu button at  the top right, then tap Settings. Tap   Multimedia messages (MMS) , then   Attachment storage  and make sure   Storage card  is selected. If this was set  to  Phone storage , you can recover  space by saving photos to the storage  card and then deleting the messages.  To do this, find a photo s message, then  tap and hold the picture to see the   Message options  menu. Tap Save. You  can now delete the message on your  phone to free up space.
  3. the free SMS Backup and Restore app frees up space by deleting all  your SMS messages after saving them to the storage card.  Download the app from, then start it and  tap Backup. Select a location for your backup   by default this is the SD card.  Tap OK, change the name if you want, and tap OK again to start the backup.  This took about 45 seconds for the 1,846 messages on our test phone. The  file will be on the SD card in a folder called SMSBackupRestore. Once the  backup has finished, tap the Delete Messages button in the SMS Backup &  Restore app. We saved about 8MB by doing this.
  4. to make sure photos you take are saved on the storage card, bring  up your camera s menu. Scroll down and tap the Storage option,  then select  Storage card . Don t forget to move photos you ve  already taken off the internal storage, either to an SD card or to your  computer. Connect the phone to your computer and select Disk Drive in the  connection options to see the phone storage appear in Windows.
  5. The free Memory Booster Lite app reclaims memory by stopping apps  you ve opened from running in the background. Download it from the  Google Play store at www.snipca.com/9309. Start the app and tap the  Quick Boost button at the bottom of the screen. The amount of memory  recovered will be shown. Tap OK. Stopping an app running in the background also  makes them slow to start. To exclude your favourite apps from this process, tap  the top-right menu icon, then Settings. Scroll down, tap Whitelist Manager, then  select your favourite apps.
  6. You can use Memory Booster to stop apps that are using too much  memory or slowing your phone down. Tap the Task Killer option at  the top of the screen. Tap the Select All option to remove the tick  from all the apps. Now go through the list and select the apps that you want  to stop. They are ordered by the amount of memory they use. Also note the  CPU number, which refers to how much work the app is making the phone  do. Tap Kill Selected at the bottom to stop the selected apps. The Apps are  not deleted so you can use them again (computeractive)
